34th DS Wild Game Dinner

A group of dedicated volunteers comes together each year to orchestrate a remarkable event that transcends the boundaries of community service. The Dripping Springs Wild Game Dinner, an annual extravaganza, not only brings people together for a night of culinary delights but also serves as a beacon of goodwill. This unique event stands as a testament to the power of community, compassion, and collaboration.

In this blog post, we share the inspiring stories of some of the amazing volunteers who make the Dripping Springs Wild Game Dinner possible.

“I did not like the first DSMC Wild Game Dinner I attended. Gun auctions and raffles? I don’t see Jesus in those things. I thought I was seeing folks try to buy their way into heaven from the money changers in the temple.

My family had just moved here from Austin and started coming to DSMC. The following year, my neighbor and now good friend Matt encouraged me to volunteer to work on the event. It was awkward. I didn’t know anyone but him. When it was over, I left with new friends, some of whom I’ve reached out to for prayer and guidance over the years.

Every year I serve at the Wild Game Dinner, I see examples of God’s grace amidst the stress and hard work. I see joy and laughter across a room of hundreds of people enjoying a meal together. I see the lives impacted by the distribution of the funds raised.

I think God gives us a glimpse of what His kingdom is like when we serve. I encourage you to join us on February 16th and 17th.”

God Bless,
Rob Linton

“The Wild Game Dinner has a special place in my heart and is my favorite season of the year. Watching this community come together to put on this dinner that raises money for the greatest needs in the community is a slice of heaven.

It all started with a friend asking me for help making some deer sausage on the day before the Wild Game Dinner 15 years ago... I had never made sausage before, but I learned quickly, and I made connections with people that I now call my best friends.

I had the honor in leading the event last year, and it was so fulfilling spiritually to be part of the leadership team that prays over the event, prays over our greatest needs in the community, and after the dinner getting funds out to those that need it most.”

“This year will be my third Wild Game Dinner to be a part of. I had no idea what to really expect my first year, but it blew me away how much work goes into this weekend. Everyone is so devoted to making it a great event, and the best part is volunteering. I have gotten to make new friends at WGD, and seeing so many people come together to make this weekend happen is what the Church is meant to be.”

“Being involved with the WGD for the last 17 years has allowed me to serve the Dripping Springs community while making life-long friends. Together we have travelled, hunted, fished, golfed, been in weddings for, and witnessed birth of each other’s children. We have lived life together through prayer, celebration, hard work, and even tears.

I have been tremendously blessed by the WGD and invite you to come and experience this incredible
mission for yourself. You’ll be glad you did… for years to come!”
