Kingdom of Heaven: Imagine A World Of Mercy

Hello Church!

As we continue our series The Kingdom of Heavens, I wanted to begin by having us think about how you have experienced God's mercy. In what ways have you witnessed and received God's merciful love? Take a moment and think about it...

This week, we will be looking at Matthew 5:7: "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy."

In speaking about mercy, theologian Scot McKnight says, "The 'merciful' are those who, because they do to others as they would want done to themselves and because they have experienced God's merciful love, empathize and show compassion to others."

We have already received God's mercy, and in that mercy we shall show mercy to those around us. We must be compassionate and show love, and in that way we will continue to receive God's mercy. Imagine a world filled with nothing but mercy and kindness and cruelness is no more...
