Joy and Purpose in Serving The Lord
Meet Jim and Ginnie, a dedicated couple with a long history of serving in various ministries. After years of faithful service in different capacities, they found a home in our church, where they continue to serve wholeheartedly. Whether leading Bible studies, helping with outreach through Women in Mission, Emergency Response Team, Home in a Month, etc, or supporting behind the scenes, their passion for ministry and love for others shine through in all they do. We are blessed to have them as part of our church family!
Jim
We started attending DSMC in January of 2011 when we moved here from Honduras. We had been serving as doing mission work in Latin America for several years, and thought that we'd come back to the States and regroup for a few months, and until God sent us out somewhere else.
As we lived here for a while, we kept seeking God's voice on, on what our next steps would be, and realized that he was not calling us to leave. He was calling us to stay right here. At that point, we found ministries and missions that touched our heart here. We both became involved in the work of the church and thought that it was it was a good fit for us, it was allowing us to use our gifts and our talents to serve those in the community around us.
On one of our trips down to the valley to help a family. There was a mother who had several children who were living in a home that was in bad shape, and we were able to spend a few days helping her to put that, put that house back together, put a roof on that didn't leak, fix some of the the wiring in the kitchen that was faulty and that could have caused fires. And her response to the small things that we did, I mean, and these were not big projects that we did, but the response from her after we did a small thing to help her make her house comfortable and safe. Was life changing for me because I saw in her lives changed. I saw I saw the future for her children in living in a house that wasn't going to be damaged, that wasn't going to be faulty, that wasn't going to cause harm to her children or sickness to her children. And for me, it it moved me. It moved my heart because I saw that I can change a life by doing very little and have a huge impact for, for future generations. The kind of thing that makes you want to come back time and time again because you want to help as many people as you can in that situation. And, you realize that it doesn't take a big commitment on your part to do that. And, you know, it has a big impact on you.

I feel like when we are serving is a blessing always to the other people. But it's more a blessing to us. We always get more than we give. And that's one of the reasons, I think, that Jim and I both serve, because we feel we feel like we're we're getting blessed and we're honoring God and what we're doing.
I feel the same way about tithing. Years ago, we we realized that if we make tithing our first payment of the month, everything else falls in place. God blesses us, and we've never had a shortfall.
One of the things that that struck us when we went into the mission field was the three P's. You've got the payers, those people that provide financial support. You've got the prayers. Those people that will pray for you and you've got the players, those people that go out and do, that carries over to everything that we are doing today as well.
Prayer is always needed. And for no matter what what we're doing, we need to pray and we need to pray continuously. Paying is something that everybody can do based on what their income is.
And then the players are those people that physically, mentally. And for various reasons can go out and do the work knowing that there are others that can't. And so having said that, I think there's something for everybody to do. And I'd like to see our church start going in the direction of, okay, I can't play, but I can pray or I can't play, but I can pay.
You know, there's something for everybody to do in our church, and I'd like to see more volunteers in our church. I'd like to see more people dedicated to supporting our church with their ties with their talents and with their gifts. And, that's my prayer for our church.
