The following is a prayer guide for you during the National Day of Prayer. Below you will find several prompts that will serve you as you enter a season of prayer. Please feel free to use as much or as little as you would like.

Confession of Sin

Most merciful God, I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry, and humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways all the days of my life, to the glory of your name. Amen.

The Psalm

Psalm 63

The Reading

Matthew 6:19-24

1 Thessalonians 5:12-28

The Intercession

Show us your mercy, O Lord; and grant us your salvation. Clothe your ministers with righteousness; let your people sing with joy. Give peace, O Lord, in all the world; for only in you can we live in safety. Lord, keep this nation under your care; and guide us in the way of justice and truth. Let you way be known upon earth; your saving health among all nations. Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten; nor the hope of the poor be taken away. Create in us clean hearts, O God; and sustain us with your Holy Spirit.

Take some time to pray for others and for yourself. Let the Holy Spirit lead you and guide you as you pray

The Collect

O God, the author of peace and lover of unity, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom. Defend and strengthen us, your humble servants, that we, surely trusting in your grace, may not fear the power of any adversaries. Grant us your power through the presence of your Spirit to be witnesses to the glory of Your Son, Jesus, our Savior and Lord. That we might be faithful servants, and that the world might come to faith in you.

In the name of your Son we ask all of this, Amen.
