Kingdom of Heaven: Imagine An Honest World

Hello Church Family!

This week, as we progress in our sermon series focused on the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount, we turn our attention to the prohibition against false testimony found in Exodus 20:16. A thriving society, oriented towards human flourishing, relies heavily on the truthful testimonies provided in legal contexts. The Lord’s commandment against false testimony connects directly to Jesus’ teachings on honesty and integrity in Matthew 5:33-37.

In recent years, the concept of truth has shifted towards a subjective perspective that serves individual interests rather than the collective good. The phrase “my truth” has supplanted the need for objective truth and reality, leading to a situation where genuine truth is often disregarded. This week, we will explore the importance of upholding a standard of honesty and demonstrating a commitment to truthfulness, with the hope that our society will be inspired to pursue a more virtuous path.

Grace and Peace,

Rev. Adam Thornton
