Multiplying the Life of Christ
Sermon: Multiplying the Life of Christ - 2/15/26
What does it look like to entrust the gospel to the next generation?
In this powerful message wrapping up our Marks of Discipleship series, we hear two incredible stories of God’s faithfulness.
First, the story of a sixth-grade boy named Austin who sensed a call to ministry at Revive Camp. Years later—after serving, studying, persevering, and trusting—he was ordained and now pastors a church. What God begins, He brings to completion.
Then, the story of another young pastor who was once denied ordination—not because of character or calling, but because of the way he spoke. Encouraged not to quit, he stayed faithful. This week, he too was ordained. The stoles prepared years ago were finally placed on his shoulders.
These stories are not just about ordination. They are about discipleship. About passing on what has been entrusted to us.
Drawing from 2 Timothy 2, we’re reminded of Paul’s charge to Timothy:
“Entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
The church is always just one generation away from extinction. Discipleship is not optional—it’s essential.
Over the past weeks, we’ve explored the marks of a disciple:
A disciple is rooted in Christ.
A disciple remains (abides) in Christ.
A disciple walks with God in obedience born from love.
A disciple bears fruit through the Spirit’s work.
And this Sunday: A disciple multiplies the life of Jesus.
At Annual Conference, students from Revive led worship—middle and high schoolers boldly praying, reading Scripture, and leading hundreds. From above, it looked like Moses laying hands on Joshua. One generation empowering the next.
We are no longer living in a post-Christian era—we are in a pre-Christian era, where many have never even heard the name of Jesus. That makes our mission urgent.
Three- and four-year-olds in our churches today will live into the next century. What are we entrusting to them?
This is bigger than buildings, bigger than preferences, bigger than comfort. It’s about empowering young people to carry the gospel farther than we ever will—to plant trees under whose shade we may never sit.
Jesus’ strategy was simple:
“As the Father has sent me, I am sending you… Receive the Holy Spirit.”
The Holy Spirit is the strategy.
When we trust Him, when we empower the next generation, when we pass on what was given to us—that’s how the kingdom multiplies.
May we have the courage to entrust the gospel to those who come after us.
If this message encouraged you, consider sharing it—and let’s continue multiplying the life of Jesus together.
