WHAT WE BELIEVE - Faith Works

“Faith without works is like a song you can’t sing. It’s about as useless as a screen door on a submarine.”

These lyrics from Rich Mullins’s 1987 song, Screen Door, illustrate the message of James to the church concerning the importance of a living faith. Faith is the foundation of a life lived in God and is and must be accompanied by good works.

Beyond James’ admonition on faith, the author of Hebrews also reminds us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. It is a precondition for the recognition of the creator without which we cannot please God.

As we continue our sermon series, What We Believe, we will be looking at our understanding, as Global Methodists and Christians, that good works are the necessary fruits of faith.
