WHAT WE BELIEVE - Heaven and Hell are Real
In preparing for this Sunday, I keep returning to a specific portion of the Lord's Prayer: Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This is a prayer we say almost every week at Church, and I pray that we aren't just going through the motions when we join together in saying these words. This statement is such a powerful moment when you really stop and think about what you are praying for. We want your Kingdom to arrive, God. We want every action in this world to be the will of You, God.
This week, as we continue our series, "What We Believe," we will be exploring the notion that heaven and hell are very much real. But, these aren't just eternal realms, they are active and present in our world today. As we explore these ideas this Sunday, I want you to hear the words of John Wesley:
"Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen, such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven upon earth.”
There is spiritual warfare happening around us, but if we desire nothing but God, we can overcome all evil.
