Hope-Filled Waiting

Over the past several weeks in the season of Lent, we have looked at the qualities and conditions in which we are called to live within the community of faith, the Church. We have explored temptation, forgiveness, holy boasting, and love. This week we will be examining the virtue of waiting. If we are honest, this is one of the more difficult actions that we can observe as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Waiting requires a great deal of trust and patience, something that we, as Americans, find difficult to practice. Yet, in the Psalms, the practice of “waiting on the Lord” is mentioned multiple times as an important practice or quality.

This week we will be exploring what David meant in Psalm 27 when he talked about waiting on the Lord and how we are called to do the same in the redeemed community.

Grace & Peace,

Rev. Adam Thornton
