Living in Love and Light

This week, we will explore Ephesians 4:17-20 and the rest of the chapter. Paul understands that it is important that these Ephesian disciples understand the contrast between who they were, pagans whose appetites were indulged by idolatrous veneration, to who they are now in Christ. They had been “darkened in their understanding” (4:18) but now because of what Christ has done for them, they were to live as witnesses, even previews, of the new world that has already appeared in Christ.

We, also, are called to live in contrast to a world that is thoroughly governed by appetite and impulse. It is through our witness to something better that our Lord speaks to a wicked and corrupt generation, calling them to come out of darkness and enjoy the liberating light of the Son.

Grace & Peace,
