Why Have you Forsaken Me?
Hello Church Family!
As we turn to Matthew 27:45-47, we find ourselves standing at the foot of the cross, witnessing one of the most mysterious and soul-stirring moments in all of Scripture. As darkness covers the land, Jesus cries out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” a direct quotation from Psalm 22:1.
These are not random words of anguish; they are the opening line of a psalm that begins in desperation but ends in hope and vindication. In this cry, Jesus is not only expressing the depth of His suffering, but He’s also pointing us to a deeper story, a story of pain that leads to redemption, of silence that gives way to resurrection.
This moment calls us to wrestle with the weight of suffering while holding on to the hope that persists, even in the darkest hour.
Grace and Peace,
